Now it’s official! The DigiCampus.fi learning environment and its end-user support service will continue as a service maintained by Mediamaisteri from 1 July 2021. Read more about the newsletter that will be published in week 11 and come to discuss about the issues that concern you on Thursday 25 March 2021 at the briefing to be held from 11.30 am to 1 pm. The continuation of the DigiCampus.fi learning environment has been confirmed

The DigiCampus project has prepared an action plan to enable post-project activities. During 2020, the project mapped out different options. Based on the investigation, a model in which DigiCampus services will be provided by an external service provider in the future was narrowed down as a possible alternative.

After the project, the DigiCampus.fi learning environment for universities will be produced by Mediamaisteri Oy and the use of the DigiCampus.fi learning environment will continue after July 1^st, 2021.

The DigiCampus.fi learning environment is especially suitable as a learning platform for joint study courses, MOOC courses and projects. The service includes the maintenance and management of the learning environment, the maintenance and control of the server environment, version upgrades and the user support service. The service is managed by a steering group consisting of representatives from the user organizations.

The cost of using the DigiCampus.fi service for the university is 850 € (VAT 0) per month. The higher education institutions make independent purchases and agreements with Mediamaisteri Oy, who provides the service. More information on service procurement procedures will be provided in the near future. The aim is for higher education institutions that continue to use the service to enter into agreements during March-April.

Functional improvements for teachers – DigiCampus Moodle 3.9 updated

DigiCampus was transferred on January 4-5^th from CSC’s Rahti environment to Mediamaisteri’s maintenance. We believe that with this transfer, we have got rid of the downtimes that plagued DigiCampus in late 2020. During the maintenance downtime, Moodle was also upgraded from version 3.8 to 3.9. With the new version, the following functional improvements have been introduced to the learning environment, especially for teachers:

In connection with the version update, the layout of DigiCampus was also modified to make it easier to use and accessible. Dear recipient!

The operational reliability of the DigiCampus.fi learning environment will be improved by transferring it to Mediamaister’s server environment. Due to the transfer, there will be a shutdown in the environment Mon-Tue 4.-5.1.2021. We apologize for the inconvenience!

We are currently negotiating with a private service provider about the management of the DigiCampus service after the project period has ended (as of July 1, 2021). More information on the supplier’s service and principles, incl. pricing will be reported immediately in the beginning of next year.
